SUBJECTS
The subjects available to our international students depends on the program in which they have enrolled.
Year 8-9 Graduate Program and Study Abroad students will follow a set program of general subjects including English, Maths, Science, STEM, Humanities and Social Sciences, Design and Technology, Home Economics, Health and Physical Education, Japanese, Drama, Art and Music.
INTENSIVE SECONDARY ENGLISH COURSE (ISEC)
Hamilton Secondary College offers students with limited English communication skills the opportunity to complete one semester of an Intensive Secondary English Course (ISEC) before commencing mainstream studies.
The ISEC curriculum develops students’ general reading, writing, listening and speaking skills in English. In addition to this, students take part in classes focusing on the specialist language skills required in Mathematics, Australian Studies, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), Health, Physical Education, and the Arts. This gives every student a solid foundation to progress to mainstream classes.
We want your learning to be rigorous and challenging, but also fun. That’s why we include special excursions and a camp in our program. A highlight of the ISEC program is the Kangaroo Island trip.

PRE-SACE CONNECT
Pre SACE Connect provides mainstream teaching in a virtual classroom environment within the Australian curriculum framework for students in Years 8 -10. Designed for students who have successfully completed ISEC Connect or achieved an IELTS of 5.5 (for direct entry).
This is a 20 week program, commencing term 1, 2021 Provides a pathway to continue into Year 9, Year 10 or Year 11 after successful completion. It includes EAL English, Maths, Science , Health, Humanities, Integrated Studies/PLP
GRADUATE PROGRAM
The High School Graduate Program is suitable for international students who wish to study in Australia in years 8 – 12 to complete SACE.
By completing the Graduate Program, students have the opportunity to complete their secondary studies through the South Australian Certificate of Education and therefore may be eligible to gain entry into a wide range of Australian Universities.
Graduate Students enrolled at Hamilton Secondary College are supported by a comprehensive support program to help them achieve academic success.

STUDY ABROAD
The Study Abroad Program (SAP) is a fee-paying program for students wishing to experience Australian culture and improve their conversational and academic English skills. Study Abroad students live in government approved homestays for periods ranging from one, three, six or up to twelve month stays.
Students can choose from a range of academic programs suitable to their interests and needs.

STUDY TOURS
Each year Hamilton Secondary College is fortunate to host study tours from Japan, Korea, China, Hong Kong, United Arab Emirates and Indonesia. In past years we have also hosted teachers on study tours from Indonesia and Thailand, United Kingdom and New Caledonia.
Our visiting Study Tour groups are immersed in a cultural program with specialist English classes and fun activities including Australian Sport, Australian Food, Indigenous Art, Bush Dancing, Folk Songs, and Photography. We can also offer specialist programs in the Space Mission to Mars and STEM programs.
