A Strong Start

Moving from primary to secondary school is a milestone for young people and their families. It’s often a time of mixed emotions. It’s not unusual for students to feel excited, but also just a little worried about making the move.

Our goal is to make the transition as easy and smooth as possible for everyone. We do this by beginning the transition early. We have strong partnerships with our local primary schools and have a series of learning visits for students from Year 5. By doing this, we make sure that our students develop a sense of belonging to the College well before they begin their secondary education. It builds confidence for them and their families that the move to the College will be an easy one. They know their way around, have positive relationships with our teachers and know our routines. Most of all, they know that our teachers are caring and will support them to do their very best.

A POSITIVE JOURNEY

As your child progresses through the Middle Years from Year 8 to Year 10, we want them to continue to build their connectedness to the College community. Our students have opportunities to be actively involved in College life by participating in things like sports, clubs, camps and competitions.  We have high expectations for all of our students. We want them to be the best that they can be and achieve at the very highest level. Our goal is to engage them in learning that is rigorous, and to build a sense of purpose and direction for them. This will set them on a pathway for success in the senior years and beyond.

SUBJECTS

Our students study the Australian Curriculum in Years 8-10. Our Language is Japanese, and this is complemented by a number of Study Tours from Japan each year. This provides our students with opportunities to learn more about Japanese culture and to practice their Japanese language skills.

As a STEM specialist school, your child will have the opportunity to study STEM as a separate subject in addition to mainstream Mathematics, Science and Technology Studies. With a comprehensive program in place, your child will have many opportunities to develop their passion, interest, knowledge and skills in this area which will set them on a great pathway to pursue these subjects in Senior School.
