Harmony Week Celebrations
This week we are celebrating Harmony Week at our school.
Harmony Week recognises and celebrates Australia’s cultural diversity, promoting inclusiveness, respect, and a sense of belonging for all — because everyone belongs.
So far, our Wellbeing Team and staff have treated students to a taste of Filipino cuisine, including spring rolls and fried rice (lumpia and sinangag). Our Cambodian students lead cultural games at lunch for students to learn and enjoy.
Additionally, students in the Disability Unit class explored Harmony Week, and what Harmony means to them. They then created their own artworks, showing that everyone belongs.
At our assembly, we enjoyed performances from our Senior School band, along with a special guest appearance featuring the Greek bouzouki and the Zorba dance performed by our Special Options students. Students and staff were also invited to take part in a cultural dress parade.
On Thursday the activities continued as students lined up at lunchtime for traditional and some more modern Indian Henna tattoos.
Finally, on Friday Harmony Week ended with a delicious and artistic celebration as students enjoyed a BBQ lunch and also tried their hand at Japanese Origami.
It was fantastic to see so many cultures proudly represented across our school community.
