Reconciliation Week assembly
What a way to end Reconciliation Week!
We were lucky to be joined by Uncle Petiola, Jordan Lovegrove and Katie Aspel. Uncle and Jordan welcomed students into the assembly with a smoking ceremony while playing the yidaki, then followed by a Welcome to Country which included all students and a beautiful speech about the importance of Reconciliation Week.
After our amazing students welcomed Katie, she then performed 2 original songs then covered 2 songs sung in Ngarrindjeri language and written by Aunty Ruby Hunter who is Katie’s Great Aunt!
It has been a week full of recognising the past and learning about how we can walk together in unity.
