Ashima High School Visit

On Sunday 10th March our first Japanese Study Tour for 2019 will arrive from Osaka, Japan, when 17 students and two teaching staff from Ashima High School arrive in Adelaide for a 13-day study tour, spending quality time with buddies at Hamilton Secondary College. We warmly welcome the students and staff from Ashima!

During their time with us, Ashima High School students will have a busy program, including taking part in Sports Day, Excursions to Gorge Wildlife Park to see Australian animals, Melbas’ Chocolates, The Giant Rocking Horse, and the Adelaide CBD, Central Market and Chinatown. They will also take part in a Mission to Mars program, and spend a day in the newly completed STEM Centre, as well as spend a day visiting the Living Kaurna Centre at Waraparinga, learning about our Indigenous heritage and taking part in an Art workshop. The Ashima students will spend time with their Hamilton buddies and also take part in an Intensive English program which includes music and PE.

Ashima High School is similar to Hamilton in many ways and the Japanese students will be sharing their culture with a number of classes including an origami workshop with students from the Hamilton Unit.  We look forward to sharing aspects of our culture with our Japanese friends and fostering our long-standing relationship. All Ashima students and staff are staying with local home stay families who provide our guests with a chance to experience life with an Australian family and build life-long memories of a wonderful time in Adelaide.

Ashima High School has been Hamilton’s partner school for the past ten years, and we were fortunate to visit Ashima High School in 2016. We are planning to visit Ashima again later this year, with an exciting Study Tour planned for Term 4.
